Shares of some top utilities companies were mixed at the close of trading:
AEP rose $.18 or .6 percent, to $30.57.
ConEd fell $.30 or .7 percent, to $40.88.
Duke Energy fell $.06 or .4 percent, to $15.72.
Pepco Holdings rose $.19 or 1.3 percent, to $14.90.
Southern Co fell $.05 or .2 percent, to $30.99.
