Shares of some top telecom companies were mixed at the close of trading:
AT&T Inc fell $.23 or .9 percent, to $25.36.
Qwest rose $.03 or .9 percent, to $3.54.
Sprint Nextel rose $.07 or 2.4 percent, to $2.94.
Verizon fell $.34 or 1.2 percent, to $29.07.
